ADVANCING YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
(AYD)

The Advancing Youth Development Training for Front Line Youth Workers is once again being offered by the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth. This newly revised training is held over the course of five weeks and includes sessions on Developmental Youth Outcomes; Adolescent Development and Identity; Services, Supports and Opportunities; Adultism and Stereotypes; Youth Participation; and Youth Worker Competencies. There is also a group project at the end of the course to pull all of the learning together and help make it real.

Participants come from Parks and Recreation Programs, Before and After School Programs, Shelter Programs and various other types of programs. One of the greatest benefits of this training is the opportunity to meet and network with others in the field of youth work. Many new partnerships have formed during this unique and very interactive training.

Best of all, the training is FREE to anyone in Onondaga County. Residents of other counties can check out the AYD website, www.nyayd.org , to find lead contact information for training in your community or you can call Marnie Annese at the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth at 315-435-2362x115.

Youth Development Training for Supervisors and Administrators

If you are in middle or upper level management of a youth serving organization in Onondaga County, plan on joining Prevention Partners for Youth Development for this incredible, free training opportunity.
This training is designed to provide theory and practice strategies in Youth Development principles for supervisors and administrators to implement in their organizations. While other training often offers theory and prinicples, this training is different because participants are supported through the difficult process of implementing what they've learned. There are many steps to be taken to create an environment in which youth and staff thrive. The first step in the Youth Development Training for Supervisors and Administrators is becoming aware of Youth Development theory and how it applies to systems that serve youth. Throughout the training, theory and practice are integrated by incorporating a wide range of resources and experts that have impacted the field of youth development. The program takes place at the site of two exemplar youth development programs.

This training is offered in the fall of the year only.  For more information, click here or contact PPYD Coordinator Shiann Obioma Atuegbu at 315-435-3355x112 or by email at shiann@ppyd.org
